DUTIES OF THE CLERK-TREASURER
The Clerk-Treasurer office is responsible for many services to the community and is often the first point of contact for the public.
Official duties related to the Town Board include:
- Preparation of public meeting agendas and public notice
- Keeps official minutes and records of the Town Board and its committees
- Maintains all resolution and ordinance records of the Town Board
- Provides notice of requests for bids or quotes for public contracts and purchases
- Recruit applicants for town employment or service on committees
- In charge of town municipal elections
- Maintains financial records of the town and file required reports
- Maintains inventory of town-owned real property and deed records
- Maintains the official town website
- Maintains records of the town-owned cemetery
- Collects monies for dog licenses, building permits, driveway permits, alcohol-related licenses, cemetery fees, transfer station fees, and any other fees set by the Town Board
- Processes reservations for use of the town hall, ballpark, or other town properties

BUILDING PERMITS & LAND USE
The Town of Gordon falls under county-wide zoning. When you plan to build, move, or alter any structure; change the use of an existing structure; grade or fill; or modify land uses, you need to contact the Douglas County Planning and Zoning Department for applicable permits required by county ordinance. After a land use permit is issued by Douglas County you then need to contact the town Clerk-Treasurer and obtain a town Building Permit.

CEMETERY
The Town of Gordon owns and maintains the Gordon Memorial Cemetery.

ELECTIONS
The Clerk-Treasurer is in charge of elections for the Town of Gordon, Douglas County, and handles voter registrations and absentee ballots for voters in the Town of Gordon.
