TOWN BOARD ELECTED TERMS
The town legislative body is a 3-member elected town board of supervisors. One member is elected as the town board chairperson. Members are elected to 2-year terms at the April election held in even-numbered years.
POWERS AND DUTIES
The town board has charge of all affairs of the town not committed by law to another body or officer or to a town employee. See Wis. Stat. s. 60.22(1).
Towns are statutory bodies meaning that towns only have the authorities given to them by state statute. The town board’s authority can be expanded by the granting of “village powers” by the town electors at a town elector meeting, but village powers may not be expanded that would conflict with statutes relating to towns and town boards. The Town of Gordon does have village powers.
Each member of the town board has an equal vote when decisions are made. Decisions are made by a majority vote of members elect.
MONTHLY MEETINGS
Town Board regular meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Town Additionally, special meetings may be held as needed. All meetings of the town board are public meetings and public notice of each meeting will be posted on the official town website and at other designated public places.
